St Patrick's Parade, Sun 15 March 2026

Everyone is invited to join Wellington's Irish community for the St Patrick's Festival on the Waterfront.

The biggest event organised by Wellington Irish Society, the St Patrick’s Festival, featuring a free parade and concert, is on this Sunday, 15 March, on the waterfront, starting at Te Papa and ending with a concert at Queen’s Wharf under the Sails. This year, we have many new groups participating, to make this the best parade ever and the weather is looking to be sunny. So it will be great craic for all.

This year's parade starts 12:45pm from Te Papa but if you are in the parade, please arrive at 12.15 pm, or earlier as there will be live music with Paddy McCann from 12 pm on. Everyone is welcome to walk alongside their county flag or walk in the parade on the day.

The concert, from 1:30pm to 4:30pm at Queens Wharf under the Sails, features traditional and modern music from Crossroads, Sláinte, Hutt Valley Children's Singers, and dancing from Gregan Irish Dancers, Kerry School of Irish Dancing and the Ryan-Dorris School of Dancing. Come prepared to join in the fun, and who will be this year's best-dressed in green?

The ceílí is back, along with the crowd choir, including Aedeen Boadita-Cormican leading us in the Irish song, An Poc ar Buile, There'll be face painting, art and crafts, storytelling and ice cream for the kids and a coffee cart for the adults. The GAA will be back on the sausage sizzle so bring some cash.

This year, we end the day with a special prize draw and make sure you're there to lift the sails with everyone joining in the final song, Fields of Athenry.
